Six Resorts Go Green in Canaries
Over the last four years, six of DRI’s Canary Islands resorts have officially gone “green” and have received EMAS Recognition (The EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme). When Royal Tenerife Country Club, Sunset View, Sunset Harbour, Sunset Bay, Cala Blanca and Club del Carmen received the EMAS Recognition Certificate, it made the company the first Group holder of this recognition in six resorts in the same year.EMAS is a management tool for companies to evaluate, report and improve their environmental performances. Participation in the EMAS project is voluntary and extends to public and private organizations in the EU (European Union) and EEA (European Economic Area) Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. To be awarded the annual recognition, the resorts had to conduct an environmental review, establish an effective environmental management system, carry out an environmental audit and provide a statement of environmental performance, all of which was approved by an accredited EMAS verifier. Once a validated statement has been approved it needs to be sent to the EMAS Competent Body for registration and made publicly available before an organization can use the EMAS logo on its site.If you require any more information regarding the Environmental Declaration please do not hesitate to contact the resort manager at any of the resorts mentioned. To visit www.emas.org.uk click here.
